Graduation of 2011

” Congratulations class of 2011, you have made it to the next level!” Those are the words I am going to here when I, Labriah Morgan graduate. I know what you’re thinking, “why does she think she’s going to graduate?” Well I don’t think I’m going to graduate, I know I’m going to graduate. Here are three specific reasons why. I’m graduating because I’m intelligent, I’ think of my parents while I’m in school, and I REFUSE to be another statistic. Here are some details to support my reasons.

I would say I am a very intelligent individual firstly because I earn good grades. I haven’t had not one bad grade since kindergarten. I also complete all of the schoolwork given to me. I haven’t missed one assignment unless I was absent I am further more intelligent because I was accepted to this college prep school. To get accepted I must have been a very bright student.

Another reason I’m graduating is because I think of my parents during the hours of the school day. This is so because everything I do in school reflects my parents. So if I show unacceptable behavior then that shows that my parents aren’t doing such a good job with raising me. I also think of their proud faces and what they expect from me, because then I know exactly what I have to do.

I more over engage that I’m going to graduate because I REFUSE to be another statistic. The statistics for students who don’t graduate are seven out of ten. I will be a part of the three that do graduate. That statistic is worst for African American students, so that means that I have to be the best I can be and then some.

In conclusion I will be receiving a high school diploma in June, 2011 because I am a very bright student, I am my parents, and I refuse to be the seven out of ten students who don’ go on to college. Know that we know were I’m going to be in four years, How about you?

Dear Mr. Romero,

I have chosen the essay above for a few reasons. One reason is that I think the hook is the best one I’ve written all year. I really put a lot of thought into this particular hook. I also like my usage of “so what”. I thought the whole “how about you” thing would leave the reader speechless. Another thing I thought was spectacular about this essay was the transitions. I used one for every yellow sentence finally. It’s obvious that you will feel the same way.

Thank you, Labriah Morgan
