Freud/cat in the hat

Freud has the name of the father of physiology. He is the discoverer of the ID, Ego, and Superego. The cat in the hat is a perfect example of this theory. The xcat is the ID, the fish is the Ego and the children are the Superego.

The cat is the ID first of all because he is doing what he wants when he wants. He is also trying to get the children to do the same. You can tell he is doing what he wants because the thing that he does has no order. One thing he does is play games. The games he plays involves juggling the fish with dishes. He also has “things” that destroy the house.

The fish is the ego because he tries to tell the children the right thing to do. He was basically an angel in which some people would call a “sissy”. He made sure he tried to do the right things. He even told the children to get the cat out of the house.

The children are considered the superego because they basically neutralized the situation. They were smack dab in the middle. The children eventually solved the problem by kicking the cat out. The cat had part in this, believe it or not, when he came back to the house to clean up his mess.

In conclusion the cat in the hat is the perfect example of Freud’s theory. In other words if I were to re-name the characters of the story there would be a cat named ID, a fish named ego, and two children named super and ego.
